A Mom is Born

Please excuse the PJs, bed-head, and lack of makeup. These photos are from Klausie's first morning with us.

I put the little peanut to bed in a safe area on his first night in our apartment, baby-gated with some soothing toys and a soft pillow stuffed with a bit of his pug mama's fur. I do think I slept fairly well...it had been an exhausting day from start to finish, beginning with a busted-out car window and a frantic trip to the repair shop, followed by a five-hour car ride into Indiana to retrieve the little bugger. I think he whimpered softly for a bit, but it couldn't have gone on for too long...it had been an exhausting day for one tiny pug puppy, too.

When morning came, I jumped awake and darted into the living room to see how my new charge had fared the night. My boyfriend says that from that moment he could see the change in me already, as my caregiver instincts kicked in. A Mama had been born.

Oh, be still my heart. These photos make me melt.Who knew that a tiny little 3-lb bundle could change one's life in so many amazing, joyful ways? My sweet baby Klausie.

Oh Klaus, you were (and are!) a doll.

And my momma can TOTALLY relate to your mom's sentiments here. Every single word. What a sweet, sweet post.

I understand what you mean. I was 19 when my mom and I got George and Gracie and it was hard to be away from them a single minute. I just loved to hear them breathe, dream (whimpers/suckling sounds) and snore. Ah...those days are long gone as the "twins" will be turning 5 next month...but the memories are not. :)
Much luv,

Awwww,
Now that is some sweet stuff. I love the pictures of you and Klaus.
Mom says she felt the same way when I came home. She said the feelings only grow stronger.
